In this article we’ll address a common fallacious argument, which is “everyone knows the earth is a globe,” or “everyone knows the earth is a sphere.” In another article on fallacious arguments entitled “Are you calling all astronauts liars?,” I wrote, “Anti-flat earthers love to throw insulting questions at Bible believers in an attempt to win the argument with a quick character attack, jumping on the ‘conspiracy’ band wagon narrative that anyone who does not believe in a heliocentric view of the earth is somehow mentally deficient.” That is the case with this fallacious argument, too.
For the unbeliever (or the believer who disregards the scriptures) there is another insurmountable hurdle for globers. Rather than focus on the “true scientific proof,” they attack character and intelligence once again by assuming facts that are not true and have never been proven.1It is truly astonishing and disappointing that christians by and large are so incredibly gullible. In that sense, we are just like Eve in the Garden of Eden when Satan’s deception found a path of least resistance through her gullibility. She quickly believed Satan’s lies. There was very little resistance as there is very little resistance today for christians who never question fake science. Not only do they adopt pseudo-science and lies about our earth, they boldly and with great narcissism attack anyone who stands on the principles of the true scientific method, and they delight in attacking anyone who by faith and common sense stands on the Bible’s version of creation.2If you adamantly refuse to even consider the possibility that you have been deceived by Satan, who is the god of this world, you are incredibly naïve as a christian. If you’re just beginning this journey for the truth about creation, you have some serious work to do to get your mind wrapped around God’s true creation story as he told it, and you also have serious work to do examining matters of scientific proof.
You have to marvel at the passion of globers to stand with such confidence on beliefs they have never understood or proven. It is their narcissism (called pride in the Bible) that causes them to insist they have done the research, even when they have not. If the subject of these two opposing views on creation (Satan’s creation story verses God’s creation story) was of little significance, why would the globers get so angry with us? If they know they’re right, why would they object to having intelligent debates on the subject, instead of trying to discredit our character and end the entire conversation? Why would they develop template narratives they all use over and over again to demean us, trying to instantly discredit us before the conversation can even begin? The truth is: They don’t want to talk about God’s creation story in the Bible. They want to shut the conversation down!
And why would there be such a huge well funded national narrative attacking flat earthers on all the main street media, all government agencies, all public and private schools and Universities, and all of corporate America? And why would all the search engines and video channels on the Internet shadow ban, remove, and control the search results on this subject of the earth so that the search results show page after page of sarcastic and demeaning articles and videos? Why such an unbelievably massive and obviously well coordinated effort to sustain and promote the heliocentric view with a special emphasis on their key argument that there is no God of creation?
Consider another powerful related question: “If atheists know there is no God, why do they get so worked up and so full of passion when christians talk about God, and why do they hate christians so much?” After all, if they know God doesn’t exist, why would the mention of God by a believer be any different than saying, “It looks like rain today.”
The answer lies in this reality: God’s existence and God’s creation story are the two most important spiritual realities in all of eternity from man’s perspective on earth. When either or both of these eternal truths are discussed from a biblical perspective, the kingdom of darkness is shaken violently, and the reminder of God’s wrath terrifies Satan and his army of fallen angels. While our atheist friends and our christian friends who are globers may not understand this deep spiritual connection, they are driven by powerful spiritual forces to attack the believer who stands for the inerrancy and truth of the Word of God. You can be certain Satan hates christians who stand up and fight for God. It should be no surprise that globers would attack us so viciously, since God’s creation story of the earth is of major eternal significance to God and to us.
First, the accusation that everyone knows the earth is a globe is untrue on its face. It’s untrue from a biblical analysis, and it’s untrue from a true scientific analysis. This site, the articles, the books, the resources we link to, will help to educate you on this subject, but you must do the heavy lifting yourself. We can lead you to the gym and show you the weights and exercise equipment, but you are responsible for your own results. Our primary focus on this site as we say in our Mission Statement, is “to exhort pastors, theologians, and christians everywhere to re-read the creation story as told by God in the book of Genesis. We uphold the Bible as the best and ultimate source of the creation story. We believe that is accomplished best with long established principles of hermeneutics and exegesis.”
Second, the number of christians around the world who have not fallen to the lies, or who have been awakened recently to the lies, is a much larger number than the globers will admit. Part of their deceptive practices includes lying about how many people believe in a globe. They do this on every subject, including politics, because they know people are generally so gullible and afraid to stand on their own two feet that they will go along with the majority. Far too many Americans have been willing to jump on the heliocentric bandwagon just because their family and friends are already on it. Being independent and standing up for the truth takes a lot of courage.
How To Deal With a Fallacious Argument
You can deal with a fallacious argument by asking them to provide proof that the earth is a sphere. They cannot and will not do that without resorting to pseudo-science and unproven information, unproven theories, and even lies.
It is at this point in response to this highlighted statement when the anti-flat earthers would go berserk. They would immediately feign shock, roll their eyes, and would undoubtedly say something like, “What are you talking about? There is massive proof. Everyone knows the earth is a ball. NASA has thousands of photos. We have telescopes in outer space . . .,” and on they would go. Their response only tells us how thoroughly they have been brainwashed. None of what they just said is proof. In fact, we have overwhelming true scientific proof that their images are CGI, not real photos, and so on.
This is why you place the burden on them to prove the earth is a sphere, that it rotates around an axis at 1,037 miles per hour at the equator, that it revolves around the sun at 66,6003Does the number 666 remind you of anything? What a remarkable “coincidence.” miles per hour, that the sun is 93,000,000 miles from the earth, that the oceans curve around the earth in spite of what our eyes see, that the Universe started with a big bang 14.5 billion years ago, and so on. None of these have ever been proven with true scientific evidence, and they cannot prove them. If you don’t know this, you are in for a big learning curve if you truly seek to know the truth.
Waking up and seeing reality is no small matter. Deception is everywhere today. There are many resources available for the person who sincerely wants to get educated, but most anti-flat earthers have no genuine interest in getting educated. They have a worldview that demands a sphere and a complete heliocentric model, and that’s the end of the argument as far as they are concerned. They have no sincere interest in learning. Being both unteachable and arrogant is called pride, and in the secular world, this is profiled as narcissism in DSM-5.

From a christian perspective, your first and primary duty is to look to the Bible to learn how God describes his creation. His testimony is the only first hand testimony we have, and it is reliable, credible, and true. God never lies. It behooves the believer to know the true creation story in the Bible, and when you do, you see how clearly it describes the creation of the earth in non-spherical and non-heliocentric terms.
In other words, the Bible describes the earth in a geocentric system in which the sun moves around the earth and not the earth around the sun. If you need to work through this Biblical analysis and learn how the Bible clearly teaches a geocentric creation, I recommend a book entitled, “Flat Earth: What the Bible Actually Says, Every Verse in The Bible on Creation.”
